The last leg of our trip ended with 2 days in the heart of Rome at a bed and breakfast about 3 minutes walk to the Coliseum. Rome felt more like an outdoor museum than a city. Churches, pillars, monuments and architecture are littered on every street — so much that you get numb to it. Not to say that its unimpressive, because it obviously isn’t, being home to some of the most unbelievable sites you will ever see, but the magnitude of work there is staggering. And so is the number of people there. The exact opposite or Naples where we started our trip, Rome is so tourist-heavy, I’m convinced I didn’t see a native Roman on the streets. Regardless, it was great to experience both sides of the coin on an amazing trip.
